"Kickin" it off at USU

Well, I'm up in Logan! I actually came up here on monday (August 4th) and reported for soccer on tuesday (August 5th) so I am a little behind. But so far it has been such a rewarding decision to come up to Logan and play soccer for the Aggies!

Last tuesday we spent most of the day in meetings learning about everything we can and cant do as student athelets. We also signed TONS of papers saying that we wont shoot up with steriods or get drunk all the time.. hopefully I stay true to that contract. haha The atheletic director also spoke to us and compared the job of a student athelete in relationship with the school as the front porch of a house- it is not the most important room in the house, but it is the most visible and gives the first impression. After all our meetings and such, we had our physicals! All the returners gave us quite the scare when they told us that we had to pee in a cup right infront of the doctor! They said "Just get use to the trainers and doctors seeing every inch of your body" which made all of us youngins start freakin out! Who in their right mind wants to get use to that!? haha Well it turns out we didnt even have to pee in a cup! We thought they were pulling a fast one on us and just trying to scare us, but when we got done they all asked us how it was and we told them we didnt have to and they got SO angry that we didnt have to, and they all did! So I guess it was legit! They really DID have to pee infront of the doctors! haha Guess we lucked out this year! (But we will probably have to do it later on, for drug screening, it's a NCAA rule or something)

Oh ya oh ya oh ya! I almost forgot the BEST part of that first day!!! We got all our nice, new, FREE gear!!!!! It was like CHRISTMAS! We got new cleats ($200 cleats), awesome tennis shoes, basketball shorts for lifting, 3 pairs of blue shorts including last years blue jersey shorts, 2 pairs of white shorts, shin guards with sleves, sweat pants with our number on them, warm up pants with the number, a hoody with number, an AWESOME fleece jacket with our number, a white sports bra and a blue sports bra, a really nice nike backpack, underarmour, 3 pairs of blue socks, 3 pairs of white socks, personalized bag-tag, a long sleeve shirt, and 3 training shirts...ummmm I'm pretty sure that sums it up. Oh, and we get something when we turn in our duffle bags (they wont tell us what it is, it's a suprise! But it has our names on it!) AND they finished up the locker rooms this year, there are some final things they need to do to finish it all up, but each of us have our own lockers that are really nice and BIG. They have our names and numbers on them too! I'll have to take a pic of mine and post it for everyone to enjoy!

After that we had dinner at coach's house and she cooked! She is a really good cook! It was fun, we did some team building and got all our delicious breakfast food! And that was day one....

Wednesday we had our fitness test bright and early! It was aweful. Probably the closest to death and despair that I have ever been in my life. haha There were 3 groups and I was in the last one at 8 o'clock. More than testing the physical aspect of our game I feel that it was very much a mental test. Your body wants so desperately to stop, leaving your mind on its own to push you through! It was also our team coming together to try to get as many to pass that we could. It was amazing to see the girls bond together. When we were running the distance and our lets felt like mush the girls that ran in the earlier groups would run beside us or behind us and literally PUSH us--placing their hands on our backs they would physically push on us to make us finish on time! It was really a neat experience.

We also had our pictures yesterday! Hopefully those turned out...I guess we will see when they post them online! To finish the day up yesterday we had a scrimage, veterans vs. rookies! It worked out nicely cuz we had 11 rookies this year-which is a lot. It was really tough cuz my legs were still pretty much dead from the fitness test earlier that day, but you gotta keep running. We ended up in a tie 1-1. Everyone played really hard though, which was super rewarding. I love going to bed after a hard days work, you cant help but feel great about yourself and what you accomplished that day.

Thursday (today) we had trainning bright and early at 8 o'clock and our morning sessions are supposed to be our tougher ones, so it was really intese. Everyone works so hard and has such a drive to perform as best they can. It was a good practice, we looked really good! I think that this year will totally be a break through season! now we are just chillin in our dorms, trying to revive our legs and lungs and waiting for 4:00 for our later session. Well I think that is about it so far!
