Probably not. And I rarely blog twice in the same month, what is this world coming to?

Anyway, I was looking online and reading some MLIA (My Life Is Average) posts on mylifeisaverage.com if you haven't ever been there, check it out, guaranteed to get a laugh. That website is like Pringles, once you pop the fun don't stop. Anyhow, I read one that said:

"Today I read MLIA about how someone learned that their birthday is National Bubble Bath Day and Elvis Presley's birthday and that they were going to spend it in a bubble bath singing Elvis Presley. My birthday is April 20, National Marijuana Day, National "Get High" Day, and Adolf Hitlers birthday. I don't think I'll be celebrating mine accordingly. MLIA"

I got a good chuckle and decided that it would be fun to look up what today's "national day" is and do whatever it was to celebrate! Sooooo I went to http://www.louderbacks.com/home/dict/days.html to see what the national day was for May 14th turns out it is "National Dance Like a Chicken Day" not that great, but I did it none the less. I was a little distraught when I looked over some previous national days, seeing that on May 11th I missed celebrating "Eat What You Want Day and Twilight Zone Day"--both very cool things to celebrate, but I was more depressed about the initial one "Eat What You Want Day" what an excuse to concoct all sorts of deliciousness!

After I got over all my daydreaming ideas for next May 11th and recovered from the emotions of missing that monumental national day I was overjoyed to discover that tomorrow (May 15th) is National Chocolate Chip Day!! And what better way to honor chocolate chips than with eating them!! Let's see, what can I compliment chocolate chips with? Chocolate chip cookies (of course), pumpkin chocolate chip bread (or cookies, melt down for dipping!, chocolate chip pancakes? (do people do that?), trail mix, chocolate shakes mmm, ice cream maybe?

Well I guess we will just have to wait and see how National Chocolate Chip Day will be celebrated tomorrow. Stay tuned. Maybe I'll decide to blog about it, or just blog in general before next year. :)

Happy National Dance Like A Chicken Day!

Happy Sink-O De My-O

That's right. I hosted a party celebrating somethin that happened in Mexico a long time ago on May 5th. Not sure what I was celebrating, but it was awesome! (and delicious) We all gathered together to eat all the mexican food and my mother and I could find at Costco. We had bite size tacos, chimichangas, tocitos, horchata, and some weird marshmallow crazy cracker things. I would consider it a success...and of course the best part of the night was when we went out back to put to the test the pinata Annie and I had slaved away constructing earlier that day. We made it into a golden star to represent...well, look up some Mexican history and I'm sure you will find some symbolic purpose for a golden star. Our purpose was to bash it open and eat some delicious candy (compliments of the US of A). Fun night fun night. We decided to let Haley go first, not because we love her oh so dearly, but simply becuase our pinata layout was designed to only withstand one blow and we knew how distraught she would be if she didn't get to smack it at least once. To everyone elses surprise, my pinata took the innitial beating like a champ!! That's my baby. Made ford tough. So after Haley hit it multiple times with only minimal damages, we decided to open the beatings to all who would like to participate. Jason, Brandon, Jordan, Annie, Lincoln, and even myself opened a can on that poor pinata, but it wouldn't spill. It was awesome. I am not sure if I've ever felt more proud of any of my prior creations.
Brynlee was so cute, once the candy started spilling out it was as if someone had opened up an entire new idea to her...the sky was dropping delicous chocholatey goodness, a candy filled forcast. I can't remember the last time I said that. Collegiate soccer is always rough in the off season, but has been extremely rough this spring....but today was an exception!! Today was our annual Wacky 5 Tournament!! Throughout the spring season we play small sided tournaments every Monday (with some crazy conditioning for the losers-very much NOT fun) BUT today, on this glorious day, we had our very last small sided tournament, and as is tradition for Aggie soccer, it was our WACKY 5 tourny!
So, you may ask, what does that mean? It means, exactly what it says...it was WACKY! We split into teams (usually decided by our spring statistics, but this year it was our "olympic" teams (a story for another time)) and because we don't get to celebrate Halloween due to the fact that we are in season at that wondrous time of year, we celebrate it at the end of the spring! Not a bad idea if you ask me.
So today, in the heat of the day, at 3 o'clock pm we all gathered in our various teams dressed up in our silly themes! My team was "White Trash" (sorry if I offend any readers, but quite frankly, this is my blog so I can say whatever I want) and it was great!
The other teams were dressed as 80's work out girls and Warrior Princesses! It was so funny to play in our costumes and watch everyone in the North End-zone building<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vRXl3gssO6E/S80svjgy0TI/AAAAAAAAADE/kFO62fAFJBg/s400/80%27s.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462071118568542514" /> (and if you've never been up to the USU football stadium pretty much the entire building is made of glass, aka windows aka EVERYONE at study hall or anyone who works there or pretty much any athlete or coach at Utah State could watch us in our silly/hideous outfits...it was great)
Well, needless to say, my team won the whole shabang. Didn't lose a single game! The one time where we don't have to run...I win. isn't it ironic, don't ya think? <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vRXl3gssO6E/S80uHOZu7MI/AAAAAAAAADU/m2qOAenxF8s/s400/everyone.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5462072624730270914" />

365 day challenge

Well I am officially done with my second pre-season as a collegiate athlete! We had our first game of the season against Northern Arizona University, and we won! It's always nice to start the season off with a "W"...this weekend we are headin' down south to Texas (el passo to be precise) and I get to see my gorgeous sissy and her hub...and of course, her cute lil' baby bump! It's weird to be in school only 2 days and having to go up to all the teachers (who just finished going over the class syllabus, stressing how crucial it is to attend class) and telling them that I'm going to be absent the rest of the week.

Everyone has heard of all those stupid human challenges "Drink a whole gallon of milk in 1 hour"..."Eat a tablespoon of cinnamon"...etc etc etc....and those are completely irrelevant to my 365 day challenge. (Maybe I'll blog about a stupid human challenge someday...but not today) So what I am going to do every single day for an entire year is...........take a picture. 1 picture a day. A random picture of something, anything, anyone, no one! (I started yesterday) Maybe doing this picture taking challenge will help motivate me to blog about those random things that I photograph. I'm doing this challenge with a friend on the soccer team, and after the year is up...we are going to have a slide show with Oreo cookies and all of our pictures! (365+365=730 pictures!) Now I just need to find something to capture today!

The ants go marching one by one hurrah?

Ants, what marvelous creatures...so small and insignificant, but you can't help but be facinated by the organization in their little colony. Soooo compliments of wikipedia I will share with all of you the interesting things I have learned about ants!

Crazy facts I bet you didnt know about ants:
• Some female ants do not need to mate sexually, some can reproduce through asexual parthenogenesis (which is a fancy way to talk about cloning) and of course, all of the offspring will be female.
• I have always been taught (a bugs life supports this) that there is a single mother queen ant, but depending on the species, there can be potentially, hundreds of fertile queens. (which just means more offspring...awesome)
• During the larvae stage ants have no legs but are capable of some minor movement, such as bending their head toward a food source when fed. During this stage, the level of care and nourishment the larvae receive will determine their eventual adult form. When resources are low, all larvae will develop into female worker ants; however, if the parent of a sexually reproducing colony has a plentiful supply of food, some of the larvae will receive better nourishment than others, and develop into winged, sexually mature female ants destined to leave the colony.
• Unlike other ants, young queens have a pair of wings. These are only used for the nuptial flight (mating flight), and are later detached either by the queen herself or chewed off by her worker ants. (not sure why you want to chew them off, wings can be very useful)
• The mating flights occur simultaneously in all ant nests of the particular species. The female "queen" ants will fly a long distance, during which they will mate with at least one winged male from another nest. After mating with the queen the male will die. Once mated, the "queen" will attempt to find a suitable area to start a colony and, once found, detach her wings.
• The term "queen" is often deceptive, as the queen ant has very little control over the colony as a whole. She has no known authority or decision-making control; instead her sole function is to reproduce

There is much more to the life of ants...but now it is time for me to make sense of my choice of topic...ants. (particularly queen ants) Well, you see, I cleaned the kitchen last night before I went to bed, it was spotless. Strangely enough, while we were sleeping that rare event among ants, the "nuptial flight" thing occured...in our KITCHEN! Yes, we woke up to hundereds of big winged ants dead on the kitchen table. What the....? And there were little worker ants all over the floor by the sliding door, it was like a big conspiracy! They were all in on this together! I know it's disgusting, and a little tramatizing to wake up with your kitchen table (remember, it's the place where you eat) covered in dead big ants...but I couldnt help but be intrigued. It reminded me of planet earth, the one where the bugs sit in hibernation, and dig their way out once every 13 years to mate and lay eggs under the soil again.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vRXl3gssO6E/Sj0lIHUtuAI/AAAAAAAAACQ/NZhpv2ImTM0/s320/chan+and+eth+008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349472753721128962" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_vRXl3gssO6E/Sj0lCAqxTkI/AAAAAAAAACI/IbvCo_SgcY8/s320/chan+and+eth+007.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349472648855375426" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_vRXl3gssO6E/Sj0k9IyOqUI/AAAAAAAAACA/wetekG0t8Ko/s320/chan+and+eth+006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349472565134797122" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vRXl3gssO6E/Sj0kzuIG2FI/AAAAAAAAAB4/2zw5Du3yEQM/s320/chan+and+eth+005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5349472403359979602" />

This brings us to our conclusion, yes, ants are gross and dirty and annoying...but as gross and dirty and annoying as they are, you have to admit, their society is insanely well organized. All the way down to the little worker ants, everyone has a role and knows exactly what they are doing at all times. (And for the record, we disinfected our table, no worries)

Updates from the Arctic

I feel like my blogging life is frighteningly familiar to my journal writing life when I was in CTR8. I tend to go on streaks and vow to myself that I am going to be consistent with my writing and then I don't write in it again until CTR9 and the entry looks identical to that of the one written a year prior, with all the promises that I am going to write every day now. (and so on and so forth) But at least I would write when I could!! And that is my theory with my blog. I hear from a lot of random people who read my blog that it's so funny that I don't write for months at a time...and it is funny. That's what I was going for. something we could all laugh about. So I'll probably just continue to only write every 3-6 months. But look on the bright side-we can all have great laughs at how funny it is that I never update! :)

ANYWAY life in Logan is great!! Oh boy, college...where to start, where to start!? Well I could start with a GREAT story about my GREAT roommie! Molli Merrill. She is a doll. I came in one night and the first thing I see is this....

My roommate Molli with scrapes all over her face! I honestly, for the life of me, cannot recall what my first impression was, I had no idea what happened to Molli, but as soon as she flashed me her cheesy grin, and I knew she was physically alright, I busted up laughing!! (It is a pretty funny sight you have to agree) Well she finally told me her story of how they all went sledding down Old Main and she brilliantly thought she would sled down backwards. (for those of you that don't know what Old Main looks like...come up to Logan sometime and see for yourself. But let's just say, sledding down it backwards isn't the brightest idea) Anyway, poor Molli smashed into a tree and flipped around and plowed into the hood of a parked car at the bottom of the hill, SMASHING the front head light (along with the entire left side of her face) but the great part about this whole story...is the note she posted on the car!! "Sorry, I broke your headlight with my face, call me if you want me to fix it". Needless to say, they never called her.

This past week my neighbors decided that the girls on the 2nd floor at Snow Hall don't know each other as much as we should. (which is embarrassing since we have all been here since August) Anyway, so we had a girls Taco Tuesday! It was really fun to meet a bunch of new girls and just hang out. I learned how to make a paper Crane for a Tip Toe to Asia thing for one of my neighbors...After we were done eating and getting to know each other pretty much everyone left. One thing led to another and all the sudden Hali (the girl who taught me Origami) was in the ceiling! I'm still not sure what made her want to go up there, because once she came out she was covered in nasty, linty fiberglassy stuff. It was great. We sure know how to have a good time up here in Logan! Well, I hope my stories entertained you all enough to tide you all over for the next few months or so! :)

Clinchin the title!

Just got back from the Hawaii/San Jose trip and the Utah State women's soccer team has officially clinched the title of WAC regular season CHAMPS! (but not too far off from those who went to Bountiful...my entire building is from Bountiful-so it's just high school...continued) ANYWAY school officially started August 25th. I've been loving it! My first day was pretty crazy. I felt like a total Freshman-but a girl on my team, Lisa, one of the Senior goal keepers, helped me find all my classes! She took pretty much all the newbies around to ALL their classes on the first day of school. She's pretty much our mom away from mom. It's a nice situation I've got here.

Since Lisa takes me to school every day, I haven't had any need to learn the busing system here in Logan. But I knew that Lisa wouldn't last the entire semester-and even if she did, she wouldn't be here in the spring because she graduates in December. So one day when I was done with class I decided to just jump on a bus and ride it until I ended up somewhat close to my place. (Bad idea) I rode that sucker all the way out into the middle of nowhere! Then Lisa called me and asked where I was, and I had no idea. I ended up just riding it until it made the rounds back to campus and I ended up right where I started. I don't ride buses any more.

This semester I am taking Chemistry, Creative Arts, Institute, Humanities, and a mandatory athlete Connections class. It's a pretty light load, but nice because of how demanding my schedule is. The first week of school I missed Thursday AND Friday due to and awesome soccer trip to OREGON!
We played Oregon and Oregon State. The game against Oregon was tough, we played really hard and had our chances, but barely fell short 1-0, but our coach was proud of the way we fought. The game against Oregon State wasn't the same scenario, we played horrible against Oregon State. Our coach was not very happy with anyone that game. We ended with a 2-1 loss against a team we definately should have beat. Now our reccord is 1-3 with an additional loss to Idaho State at the beginning of the season and a win on our own turff against University of Seattle. Today we play Texas State and are hoping to once again defend our home field!

circus clowns or soccer players?

Today is Saturday. We are leaving for a retreat up to a cabin Bear Lake in a few hours, USU owns a cabin up there for awesome people like us to use to bond! So just an update from yesterday, we didnt end up having our afternoon practice because we worked really hard in the morning practice- it was way nice to have some extra time to somewhat recover. Also, last night we went to the rodeo as a team! We were all excited that our second practice got canceled so we could all go have showers and get all dolled up for the rodeo! (of course it didnt make any difference to me, I wasnt planning on dressing up, doing my hair, or wearing any makeup) So most of the girls got all cute and presentable for the rodeo...right about when we were supposed to be leaving the rest of the team came to our dorm and gathered all the freshmen into one room and told us that as is tradition the seniors bought the freshmen a present and we had to go in twos up to the third floor to get them....so Shantel and Marissa went first and soon after I went with Britt-- and to our dismay it was NOT the type of presents we wanted. They had aweful outfits/costumes for us to wear and they did our hair all CRAZY with ugly makeup. Let's just say that when I was done everyone said I looked like the joker. So we all had to go to the rodeo looking like rodeo clowns! We even had some people ask us if we were working the rodeo!! It was the ultimate freshman initiation and humilation, at least there were 10 of us doing it together. I just felt bad for the girls that spent all day picking out their outfit and flat-ironing their hair and fixing their makeup. haha

So back to the present...today we had our 5 v. 5 tournament. My team was actually really good! We got second place to the undefeated team, which was pretty good! And it was for conditioning! bleh. The winners had to do two 120's, second place had to do three 120's, third place had to do four 120's, and last place had to do five 120's. When we all finished and were about to fall over dead our coach pulled a fast one on us and told us we had to do another one if we didnt make any of our times, so it was on our honor, which is pretty much like a guilt trip-so as a team we did one more 120. It sucked, but we've gotta push ourselves if we're going to get this WAC title this year! Anyway, so that's how camp is going so far.. OH YA! So after our practice we went to dip in the whirlpool to help revive our legs, and afterwards when we were driving back (Lexi was driving) The stupid football players shot us with a paintball! They hit Mugs and got all over her back and the inside of Lexi's car! We were not very happy about their obnoxious way of flirting with the new freshmen, but lucky for THEM it all came out of lexi's seats (beacause if it didnt, they would be regretting that) Well that's it for now! Soccer rocks. Go Aggies!

"Kickin" it off at USU

Well, I'm up in Logan! I actually came up here on monday (August 4th) and reported for soccer on tuesday (August 5th) so I am a little behind. But so far it has been such a rewarding decision to come up to Logan and play soccer for the Aggies!

Last tuesday we spent most of the day in meetings learning about everything we can and cant do as student athelets. We also signed TONS of papers saying that we wont shoot up with steriods or get drunk all the time.. hopefully I stay true to that contract. haha The atheletic director also spoke to us and compared the job of a student athelete in relationship with the school as the front porch of a house- it is not the most important room in the house, but it is the most visible and gives the first impression. After all our meetings and such, we had our physicals! All the returners gave us quite the scare when they told us that we had to pee in a cup right infront of the doctor! They said "Just get use to the trainers and doctors seeing every inch of your body" which made all of us youngins start freakin out! Who in their right mind wants to get use to that!? haha Well it turns out we didnt even have to pee in a cup! We thought they were pulling a fast one on us and just trying to scare us, but when we got done they all asked us how it was and we told them we didnt have to and they got SO angry that we didnt have to, and they all did! So I guess it was legit! They really DID have to pee infront of the doctors! haha Guess we lucked out this year! (But we will probably have to do it later on, for drug screening, it's a NCAA rule or something)

Oh ya oh ya oh ya! I almost forgot the BEST part of that first day!!! We got all our nice, new, FREE gear!!!!! It was like CHRISTMAS! We got new cleats ($200 cleats), awesome tennis shoes, basketball shorts for lifting, 3 pairs of blue shorts including last years blue jersey shorts, 2 pairs of white shorts, shin guards with sleves, sweat pants with our number on them, warm up pants with the number, a hoody with number, an AWESOME fleece jacket with our number, a white sports bra and a blue sports bra, a really nice nike backpack, underarmour, 3 pairs of blue socks, 3 pairs of white socks, personalized bag-tag, a long sleeve shirt, and 3 training shirts...ummmm I'm pretty sure that sums it up. Oh, and we get something when we turn in our duffle bags (they wont tell us what it is, it's a suprise! But it has our names on it!) AND they finished up the locker rooms this year, there are some final things they need to do to finish it all up, but each of us have our own lockers that are really nice and BIG. They have our names and numbers on them too! I'll have to take a pic of mine and post it for everyone to enjoy!

After that we had dinner at coach's house and she cooked! She is a really good cook! It was fun, we did some team building and got all our delicious breakfast food! And that was day one....

Wednesday we had our fitness test bright and early! It was aweful. Probably the closest to death and despair that I have ever been in my life. haha There were 3 groups and I was in the last one at 8 o'clock. More than testing the physical aspect of our game I feel that it was very much a mental test. Your body wants so desperately to stop, leaving your mind on its own to push you through! It was also our team coming together to try to get as many to pass that we could. It was amazing to see the girls bond together. When we were running the distance and our lets felt like mush the girls that ran in the earlier groups would run beside us or behind us and literally PUSH us--placing their hands on our backs they would physically push on us to make us finish on time! It was really a neat experience.

We also had our pictures yesterday! Hopefully those turned out...I guess we will see when they post them online! To finish the day up yesterday we had a scrimage, veterans vs. rookies! It worked out nicely cuz we had 11 rookies this year-which is a lot. It was really tough cuz my legs were still pretty much dead from the fitness test earlier that day, but you gotta keep running. We ended up in a tie 1-1. Everyone played really hard though, which was super rewarding. I love going to bed after a hard days work, you cant help but feel great about yourself and what you accomplished that day.

Thursday (today) we had trainning bright and early at 8 o'clock and our morning sessions are supposed to be our tougher ones, so it was really intese. Everyone works so hard and has such a drive to perform as best they can. It was a good practice, we looked really good! I think that this year will totally be a break through season! now we are just chillin in our dorms, trying to revive our legs and lungs and waiting for 4:00 for our later session. Well I think that is about it so far!

USU baby!

Well today was my SOAR date for USU! And let me be the first to tell you...I am a GREAT soarer! Anyway, so my mother and I got up bright and early to head up to Logan for the Student Orientation Advising Registration it was so-o long, but really helpful! The upperclassmen in charge were so informative, patient, and understanding with all us new little baby Aggies. teehee
The Orientation was awesome, giving me a chance to meet tons of other new incoming freshman. It's nice to know that everyone else is on the exact same page as me, all nervous and excited and anxious all mixed in one! I must admit, there are some pretty attractive Aggie men that will be attending the university with me! This next year will be an exciting one!
So I officially got my USU ID card and, even though it took forever and a half, I also registered for my fall classes! Hopefully some of those men I met will be in some (if not all) of them! I'm super excited to head up there in August for soccer. I report on the 5th of August, and get to participate in a fitness test on the 6th! Stay tuned to find out how I do...if I survive to tell anyone.
Well, I'm thinking that this year should be super fun! While I was up in Logan I also checked out who my new roomies are! There are 6 girls in my little dorm thingy, 4 soccer girls, and 2 girls who will soon become our soccer fans I'm sure!

Blogger?

Well as most of you know I'm moving out in approximately 2 weeks! Which is a big deal for me! I'm moving up to Logan to attend Utah State University. I committed to play soccer there my junior year of high school, and signed my life away the end of my senior year...I couldn't be happier!
Anyway, I decided that the best way for me to stay somewhat connected to my old life down in Provo (and to keep my sanity in the small town of Logan) I would start a blog! I figure I can kinda use it as a journal/record of happenings in my life! Sooooo, this is the first post-a little short compared to most of my siblings, but I'm a single 18 year old girl with no life (yet), what do you expect!
